Lieutenant General Khairi Al-Tamimi, Secretary-General of the General Command of the Libyan National Army, visited the Royal Jordanian Police Academy in the Jordanian capital Amman as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and military cooperation between Libya and Jordan.

Al-Tamimi and the accompanying delegation were received by Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Omari, Assistant Director of Public Security for Operations and Training, along with several senior officers from the academy.

During the visit, Al-Tamimi reviewed the educational programmes and training plans adopted by the Faculty of Security Sciences at the academy. He also followed the progress of Libyan Interior Ministry officers from the eastern-based government who are currently undergoing specialised training courses in Jordan.

The visit comes within the framework of the Libyan General Command’s broader strategy to expand cooperation with allied and friendly countries in the fields of military qualification, police development and security training.

According to Libyan officials, the cooperation aims to improve the professional capabilities of members of Libya’s military and security institutions amid ongoing efforts to enhance institutional performance and reinforce stability across the country.

Jordan has long been considered one of the regional partners supporting Libya in the areas of security coordination, police rehabilitation and technical training programmes. Libyan delegations have regularly participated in specialised courses hosted by Jordanian institutions over recent years.

The visit also reflects growing coordination between Libyan and Jordanian authorities in exchanging expertise related to security sciences, operational planning and modern policing methods.

Observers say the continued training of Libyan security personnel abroad forms part of wider attempts by Libyan authorities to modernise state institutions and strengthen the readiness of security agencies following years of political instability and armed conflict.

The Libyan National Armed Forces leadership has repeatedly stressed the importance of international partnerships in rebuilding military and security capabilities and preparing qualified personnel able to meet the country’s security challenges.
