Libya’s House of Representatives praised the successful execution of the “Shield of Al Karama 2” military exercises conducted by the Libyan National Army in the Ras Al-Hilal area, describing the drills as a reflection of growing military readiness, operational discipline, and combat capability.

In an official statement, the parliament said the exercises demonstrated advanced levels of coordination and field preparedness while highlighting continued efforts to modernize and rebuild Libya’s military institution according to professional and technical standards.

The House of Representatives reaffirmed its support for the armed forces and their role in protecting Libya’s sovereignty, preserving national security, and maintaining stability across the country.

The large-scale exercises included tactical maneuvers, live combat simulations, and coordinated field operations involving various military units and advanced equipment. Officials said the drills showcased the armed forces’ ability to carry out organized military operations and improve combat efficiency through expanded training and modernization programs.

Member of Parliament Saeed Imgheib stated that the exercises reflected significant progress in military discipline, combat readiness, and technical capabilities. He explained that the drills represented more than a symbolic military display and instead formed part of an ongoing strategy aimed at strengthening training, modernization, and institutional development inside the armed forces.

Officials also highlighted improvements in battlefield coordination and the use of modern military systems and armored vehicles, describing the exercises as evidence of the growing operational capabilities achieved in recent years.

The exercises come as eastern Libyan authorities continue implementing broader defense modernization plans focused on upgrading air and ground defense systems, enhancing training programs, and expanding military cooperation with regional and international partners.

Recent development efforts reportedly included the introduction of Russian-made BTR-82A armored personnel carriers and Spartak military vehicles, alongside modernization work targeting main battle tanks to improve operational performance and field readiness.

The drills also followed multinational military activities hosted in Sirte, including the “Flintlock” exercises involving several countries and forces affiliated with US Africa Command as part of wider regional security cooperation initiatives.
