On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the United States remain very active in the Libyan conflict.
In an interview with Sputnik Russian radio, Lavrov said, “The United States is very active in Libya, and is trying to ‘settle’ this conflict for its own benefit. This includes weakening Turkey and Russia. This is clearly stated.”

Last week, the Russian FM expressed Moscow’s concern about the delay, in nominating a new UN Special Representative to Libya. Russia’s MoFA spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, stated that “International efforts to provide foreign assistance to Libyans in overcoming the consequences of the devastating and bloody political-military crisis, must be effectively coordinated by the United Nations.”
