French Ambassador to Libya Thierry Vallat has launched the first club for Libyan graduates of French universities, marking a new step in strengthening educational and cultural ties between Libya and France.

The initiative, named the French Club, was launched on Monday as a platform for Libyans who studied in France or completed French academic programmes during their educational journey.

According to a statement by the French Embassy in Libya, the club aims to bring together people who chose France as a destination for higher education and academic development. It is designed to serve as a common space for communication, professional networking, and discussion among Libyan graduates from different fields.

The embassy said the launch created an opportunity for dialogue with Libyan professionals from various sectors who had previously joined degree programmes in France. Through the new club, they will become part of the wider Campus France global alumni network, which includes more than 545,000 members worldwide.

The French Embassy added that the academic choices made by these graduates helped shape their personal and professional paths. It said their experience also contributed to strengthening Libyan-French relations and deepening mutual understanding between the two countries.

The launch of the French Club reflects France’s continued interest in educational cooperation with Libya. It also provides a new framework for former students to remain connected with France, exchange expertise, and build professional links that can support cooperation in education, culture, business, and public life.

The initiative comes as Libya and France continue to work on expanding bilateral cooperation in several fields, including education, training, diplomacy, economic partnerships, and cultural exchange.

By creating a structured alumni network in Libya, the French Embassy aims to support long-term connections between Libyan graduates and French academic institutions. The club is also expected to help promote future academic opportunities and encourage stronger links between Libyan professionals and the international Campus France network.
