The Interior Minister of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha, announced that he has reached a deal with the multinational aerospace firm Airbus to get 10 helicopters.
On Friday, Bashagha met with the CEO of Airbus Helicopters, Bruno Even, to complete the deal of six H-135 model helicopters and four H-145 model helicopters, the GNA’s Interior Ministry said in a statement.
“The helicopters are equipped with modern technology and full equipment, devices and accessories according to the latest specifications,” the statement added.
“The helicopters will be used for the purposes of combating organised crime and terrorist groups, search and rescue, border and coast surveillance, human smuggling lines, and civilian safety missions,” the statement noted.
The GNA’s Interior Ministry pointed out that, it was also agreed to hold training courses to qualify Libyan engineers, technicians, and airline crews.
