Libya Reports First COVID-19 Child Death

The “Crisis and Emergency Committee in Al-Ruhaibat to combat the Coronavirus” announced on Sunday the death of the first child in Libya due to COVID-19.

In a statement the committee said that the 11-year-old girl, Mafaz Saeed died in the Mitiga isolation center in the Suq Al-Juma’a Municipality. She is reported as the first child to die from the virus since the beginning of the pandemic in Libya.

The National Center for Disease Control in Libya (NCDC) announced 981 new infections, 35 deaths, and 1,349 successful recoveries in the last 24 hours.

In a statement, the center added that Tripoli witnessed the largest number of new infections with 481 new cases, 1,021 recoveries, and 16 deaths. It pointed out that the total number of people infected with the virus rose to 118,631 people, including 18,048 active cases, and 1,877 deaths.
