On Thursday, Ibrahim Bushnaf, the Interior Minister of Libya’s Interim Government, announced the extension of the nationwide curfew until April 8th.

In a statement, the Minister also banned the use of public transport across Libya, in addition to banning movement between cities. Authorities in Libya have been rolling out these measures to curb an outbreak of Covid-19 in the country.

On March 21, the Minister ordered the closure of all shops, exempting vital businesses such as supermarkets and bakeries from the decision between 6am and 6pm. Pharmacies are allowed to operate as per usual.

On Tuesday, Libya’s National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) announced that two more patients had been diagnosed with Covid-19, bringing the total number of people infected with the virus in Libya to 10.
