Ageela Saleh meets President of Italian Senate in Rome

The Speaker of the Libyan Parliament, Ageela Saleh met with the President of the Italian Senate, Elisabetta Casellati, as part of a series of meetings Saleh is holding in Rome. He was accompanied by the Deputy Rapporteur of the Parliament, Sabah Jumaa, and MP Abdel-Kader Yahya, on the two-day official visit.

According to the media office of the Libyan Parliament, the meeting discussed joint cooperation, and ways to develop and support bilateral relations. They also discussed the latest developments in Libya, the region, as well as a number of issues of common interest.

Notably, Saleh also met with the Speaker of the Italian Parliament, Roberto Fico at the headquarters of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. Saleh reiterated his total rejection of all obstructionist attempts to postpone Libya’s December elections, with Fico stressing that the elections should be held as scheduled.

Saleh praised the important role of his Italian counterpart, and the Italian government for their interest in Libya. He noted that Italy was at the forefront of countries supporting a political solution in Libya.

He called on Italian companies to return to Libya to complete their stalled projects in the country.
