Supreme Council of Libyan Tribes condemns GNA Siege of Tarhuna

The Supreme Council of Libyan Tribes in Tarhuna has strongly condemned the domestic and international silence towards the city’s siege by forces aligned with the Government of National Accord (GNA).

The siege has halted all food and medical supplies, as well as cutting off electricity and telecommunication services to the city.

In a statement, the Council condemned the lack of outcry by human rights organisations on the city’s situation, or any calls for the GNA to lift the siege.

“We call on the General Command of the [Libyan National Army (LNA)], the House of Representatives, and the Libyan Interim Government to direct all necessary capabilities to reduce the burden on Tarhuna residents who suffer from very difficult conditions in addition to urgently addressing the city’s power outages and telecommunications services, ” the statement said.
