Libya Deputy Minister of Interior, Faraj Egaim participated in the first Libya Security and Safety Conference in Benghazi. It was held under the slogan “Illicit weapons are a crime.”
According to a statement, research papers were presented during the conference that included mechanisms and solutions for collecting weapons, and their impact on society.
The statement indicated that a number of foreign researchers participated in the conference via video conference. It was attended by a representative of the General Command of the Libya National Army (LNA), several representatives of the public sector and civil society institutions, and a group of experts, academics, researchers, and professors.
In his speech, Egaim praised the role of the organizing committee and the participants. He hailed their “efforts to educate citizens by offering solutions to protect Libyan society from this thorny negative phenomenon, and discussing social, religious, security, and cultural axes regarding it.”
The statement urged the organizing committee to organize a conference on food and water security, due to its importance for the safety and lives of citizens across the country.

German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock said in press statements that the security of Libya is important for the security of Europe.
She affirmed her willingness to continue working within the course of the Berlin I and II Conferences, as a contribution to the country’s political solution.
Berlin had hosted talks between regional countries and the United Nations to resolve the Libyan crisis, and hold Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Notably, German Human Rights Commissioner, Luise Amtsberg said the actions of the Libyan Coast Guard have “shown time and again that Libya is not conforming to human rights standards.”
In a statement published by the German Federal Foreign Office, Amtsberg added that the Libyan Coast Guard “is not a reliable partner for the European Union as international law and human rights are being repeatedly violated at sea and on land.”
