SOHR Says 500 Syrian Fighters Arrive in Libya

On Sunday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) confirmed the transfer to Libya of 500 Syrian fighters loyal to Ankara.

The new contingent of foreign fighters will participate in military operations alongside the Government of National Accord (GNA), against the Libyan National Army (LNA).

With this latest arrival of fighters to Libya, the number of Turkish-backed foreign fighters in the country has reaches approximately 10,100.

According to the SOHR, the number of recruits in Turkish training camps amounts to about 3,400.

Reports suggest that there are about 200 children between the ages of 16 and 18 among the total number of recruits, most of them being in the “Sultan Murad” division.

It is believed that military factions are exploiting the difficult living conditions of children in Syria to turn them into soldiers by promising them attractive remuneration.

Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory documented the killing of 7 foreign fighters following battles taking place on several fronts in Libya, thus bringing the death toll among foreign fighters to 318 fighters.

This includes 18 children under the age of 18, as well as some group leaders within those factions.
