An MoU for the Libya Start-Up Project to support the Gharyan University Incubator was signed on Thursday by the French NGO Supernovae, and the Turkish-based Bina Libya.

The MoU fits into the scope of the two parties’ relationship to support and expand the Gharyan University incubator, equip it, and train 25 faculty members to become mentors and advisors in entrepreneurship.

The project will also result in the beginning of young entrepreneur competitions at the university, and in the Western Mountain area.

The goal will be to teach, incubate, and assist 100 training teams in developing projects. As well as locating the necessary funding from a variety of sources, particularly banks, financing funds, and private support organizations.

Raif Wafa, the Supernovae Coordinator in Libya, confirmed that this agreement “fits within the organization’s effort to support several business incubators in Libya. In order to promote ideas of various youth projects in terms of training, development, and obtaining the necessary financing to start the project.”

“We will work together to develop the capacity of the Gharyan University Incubator to support entrepreneurs, and small and medium-sized businesses and to promote the entrepreneurial climate,” Wafa said in reference to their relationship with the Bina program.

The Libya Startup project aims to improve Libyan entrepreneurs’ skills, while also supporting the country’s business environment through training and advice. The project is a European Union-funded initiative that is being carried out by Supernovae, in collaboration with Spark.

Ghada Arhouma, Director of the Bina Libya Program, said that the agreement’s goal is to promote the Gharyan University business incubator. In order to launch the targeted projects, this will train a number of entrepreneurship training consultants to run a competition in the Western Mountain, with a target of 100 project ideas.

The signing meeting was attended by Dr. Abdulaziz Boudhina, the Director of the Gharyan University Business Center.
