Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Kanaan Yilmaz has praised the Turkish Industries Exhibition held in Benghazi, describing it as “a significant step towards ensuring Turkish companies attain the position they deserve in eastern Libya.”

Yilmaz expressed Turkey’s “confidence in the Libyan economy,” underscoring the nation’s equal attention to all its regions. He commended the “intense participation of Turkish companies and businesspeople in the exhibition,” considering it as a “mark of the trust the Turkish side places in the Libyan economy.”

He applauded the eastern region’s authorities for hosting the exhibition, reinforcing the “historic and social ties between Turkey and Libya that span over 500 years.”

The Turkish Ambassador clarified that this exhibition “will serve as a critical turning point in revitalising the activities of the Turkish business sector in eastern Libya, adding a new dimension to the region’s development.”

Concluding his address, he voiced his desire to enhance mutual cooperation between Turkey and Libya in various fields, particularly trade.

Earlier this month, the Libyan-Tunisian Forum was launched under the theme of ‘Reconstruction of Benghazi’ the second largest Libyan city.

The four-day forum is organised by the Benghazi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture, in cooperation with the Supreme Council of Libyan-Tunisian Businessmen.

The activities of the first day were attended by Saqr Bujawari, Mayor of Benghazi, Saleh Al-Obeidi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Benghazi Chamber, and Ali Buhairi Al-Awjali, Chairman of the Benghazi and Derna Reconstruction Fund.

The forum discussed ways to enhance cooperation and work opportunities with Tunisia, in economic, trade, and investment fields.

A member of the Benghazi Municipal Council, Engineer Ahmed Al-Tira, told the Libyan News Agency that the council has drawn up a plan for 2023 to 2030 to develop the city. “We are working on implementing the plan with the participation of all sectors and civil society institutions,” he said.

He explained that the Benghazi Municipal Council will participate in the reconstruction of the city, along with local and international companies.
