Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi, has received a phone call from the Bahraini King, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, where they discussed bilateral ties and the crisis in Libya.

According to a statement by Egyptian presidential spokesman, Bassam Radi, the two sides discussed ways to reach a comprehensive political settlement to the Libyan crisis, in light of the launch of Egypt’s ‘Cairo Declaration’.

“The Bahraini monarch stated his support for the initiative, aiming at achieving security and stability in Libya, while limiting foreign intervention in the country” Rady added.

El-Sisi announced the initiative to resolve the Libyan conflict following his meeting with Field Marshall Khalifa Haftar and the Speaker of the House, Ageela Saleh.

Dubbed the ‘Cairo Declaration’, the Egyptian plan seeks to implement a cease-fire between the warring parties, disband militias, remove foreign forces, elect a new presidential council, and draft a constitutional declaration to regulate future elections.
