“Greece Threatens Turkey: We will Burn Those Approaching Our Land”

In an escalation of the crisis between the two countries, the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, Konstantinos Floros, issued stern warnings to Turkey against taking any action that could harm the interests of his country, threatening to “burn those who set foot” on Greek soil.

Floros did not rule out the occurrence of a military conflict with Turkey should Ankara cross the red lines in its relationship with Athens, pointing out that such a conflict would not be limited, but would widen rapidly so that stopping it would be difficult.

The relations between Greece and Turkey have witnessed great tensions after the agreement signed by Ankara with the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Fayez
al-Sarraj, regarding the demarcation of the maritime borders between the two countries. Additionally, Greece has been angered by Turkey sending its ships to explore for oil and gas in areas that Greece considers part of its exclusive economic zone.
