The Benghazi Medical Centre has successfully conducted 113 surgeries over two days, on 28th and 29th February 2024, demonstrating its capacity and commitment to healthcare. The operations spanned a range of medical disciplines, including 80 in obstetrics and gynecology, 22 in general surgery, and various others in neurosurgery, urology, ENT, hand and cosmetic surgery, orthopedics, and vascular surgery.
Acknowledgments were extended to the team of medical professionals responsible for this achievement, highlighting the collective effort from surgeons to healthcare administration personnel. Special recognition was given to Professor Shahawi Al-Barghathi, head of the Surgical Operations Department, for her leadership and the team’s dedication to quality care.
In parallel, the Health Minister-designate of Libya, Osman Abdul Jalil, inaugurated new medical laboratories at the Faculty of Medicine, Derna University, during his participation in the International Conference on Scientific Research.
The conference, attended by specialists from both Libya and abroad, focused on the pivotal role of scientific research in advancing healthcare and other sectors.
The opening of these laboratories, crucial for the faculty’s accreditation, marks a significant step towards enhancing medical education and research capabilities.
Minister Abdul Jalil underscored the government’s support for medical students and the urgent need for specialized healthcare professionals, reaffirming a commitment to strengthening Libya’s healthcare sector.
