On Tuesday, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, the General Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), stated that Turkey’s aggression against Libya was aimed at turning it into an Ottoman state.

In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Haftar paid tribute to Arab countries, particularly the United Arab Emirates and Egypt, for their categorical rejection of Turkey’s intervention.

The LNA commander added that Turkey seeks to loot Libya’s wealth to provide prosperity to its own people.

He stressed that confronting the Turkish aggression was a national duty.

“We will firmly continue to enhance the fighting capabilities of our armed forces to defend our lands and our people”, Haftar said.

The LNA commander went on to say that “We have responded to the international community’s call to engage in a political settlement. We will not accept the exploitation of the current situation by enemy forces in bringing more weapons and mercenaries to the country”.

He added that “Our war against Turkey will not stop until we liberate all of Libya”.
