South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor confirmed that violations of the UN arms embargo through the entry of weapons and mercenaries were occuring on a daily basis in Libya. She stressed that there was no military solution to the crisis.

“We support the efforts of the African Union to end the conflict in Libya by communicating with all actors,” Pandor said during her speech at the UN Security Council session. She called on the parties to the conflict to reach a ceasefire agreement.

The UN Security Council session on Libya, held on Wednesday, discussed the developments of the crisis.

The participating countries expressed their rejection of foreign interference, military actions, and the transfer of mercenaries and weapons to Libya.

They unanimously agreed on the need to resume political dialogue to end the current crisis.
