On Tuesday, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), congratulated Al-Nasr Football Club on winning the Libyan Premier League title for the 2023-2024 season.

This came during a reception at the LNA General Command headquarters in Benghazi, attended by Al-Nasr’s board of directors and first-team players. The event was also graced by the presence of Parliament-designated Prime Minister Osama Hammad, along with several military and security leaders.

Al-Nasr secured their third Libyan Premier League title after achieving a perfect record in the championship playoff matches held in Rome, Italy, earlier this July. This victory marks a significant milestone in Al-Nasr’s history, solidifying their position as a formidable force in Libyan football.

Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, a key figure in Libyan politics and military affairs, has often engaged in activities that extend beyond the battlefield. His congratulatory message to Al-Nasr not only highlights his support for sports but also reflects his influence in fostering unity and national pride through such achievements. The presence of key political and military figures at the reception underscores the significance of this event in the Libyan context.

The Libyan Premier League, the top tier of Libyan football, has faced numerous challenges over the years, including political instability and security issues. Despite these challenges, the league has continued to be a source of national pride and resilience. Al-Nasr’s victory is a testament to the enduring spirit of Libyan football and its ability to thrive amid adversity.

Al-Nasr’s victory is expected to positively impact the broader landscape of Libyan football. It serves as an inspiration for other clubs and young athletes, encouraging them to pursue excellence.
