The Export Council for Food Industries in Egypt has announced an 18% increase in Egyptian processed food exports to Libya during the first seven months of 2023, compared to the same period last year. The total value of exports reached $183 million.

According to the council, 479 Egyptian companies contributed to these exports, with 26 companies achieving export values exceeding $1 million each. The products exported included essential foodstuffs such as grain preparations, biscuits, vegetable preparations, juices, dairy products, tobacco substitutes, sugar, glucose, lactose, processed potatoes, pickled and processed olives, beverages, and vinegar.

The council also highlighted that Egypt’s total food exports to Libya in 2022 amounted to $227 million, continuing to grow steadily. By 2023, they are expected to reach $291 million, marking an 8% growth rate. In 2022, a total of 537 companies exported food products to the Libyan market, with 63 companies exceeding $1 million in exports.

The significant growth in Egyptian food exports to Libya reflects the strong trade relations between the two neighbouring countries and the increasing demand for Egyptian food products in the Libyan market.
