Libya’s Ambassador to the European Union, Jalal Al-Ashi, met with EU Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, in Brussels to discuss enhancing joint cooperation and shared priorities.
The EU envoy revealed that the consultations included structured dialogue on common priorities. This aligns with the agreement made between Libya’s Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbaiba and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on 15 May.
Key topics discussed included civil aviation, healthcare, higher education, fisheries, youth cultural and educational exchange, renewable energy, migration, and border management.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening coordination and cooperation. The partnership between the EU and Libya was emphasised as being rooted in respect for sovereignty, human rights, universal freedoms, and Libya’s rich cultural traditions.
Ambassador Orlando also congratulated Libya on the municipal elections held on Saturday across 58 municipalities.
He highlighted these elections as a significant step in Libya’s democratic process.
