Youssef Al-Agouri, head of the Libyan Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, held a questioning session with Abdel-Hadi Al-Hwaij, Foreign Minister of the eastern-based interim government. The session followed controversy over the reception of Amadou Lamin Sano, who falsely claimed to be a State Minister and Special Adviser to the President of Guinea-Bissau.

Guinea-Bissau’s Foreign Ministry issued an official statement denying Sano’s affiliation with its government or president, labelling him an impostor.

During the parliamentary session, Al-Hwaij addressed media allegations, describing them as part of a “suspicious campaign” aimed at tarnishing the Foreign Ministry’s reputation.

Al-Agouri stressed that the committee would continue its investigation into the matter, citing its implications for Libya’s national security, sovereignty, and international image.

The incident has sparked widespread debate after Al-Hwaij held meetings with Sano, discussing bilateral relations. This included discussions with Mesbah Douma, the Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Guinea-Bissau’s Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Sano’s lack of any official role and urged Libyan authorities to take firm measures to prevent similar incidents.
