Aydın Adnan Sezgin, Member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and Deputy for Aydın accused on Tuesday the government of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of dragging the country into the internal war of Libya.
“The danger is gradually increasing in Libya, and despite our warnings to the government, it has engaged all its strength in the war there, and this situation will expose Turkey to severe threats,” Sezgin said at a press conference in Parliament.
He pointed out that the Al-Watiya airbase, on which Turkey had previously announced it was building its own airbase, had been attacked and suffered significant equipment losses.
He asked: “Who carried out the attack?” and added: “so far they have not disclosed this. The bombing of the airbase and the developments that followed, have shown a mistake in the government’s decisions.”
He stressed that the superiority of the NATO air force facing Turkey in addition to the Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Fayez al-Saraj remains a major concern in Libya.
Speaking to Sky News Arabia, the director of the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) Moral Guidance Department, Khaled Al-Mahjoub had announced that the world and the region are facing a real threat posed by the Muslim Brotherhood.
He reiterated that Turkey is continuing to deploy mercenaries and support terrorism in the country through Turkish cargo planes and other means. Turkey thus expands its influence in front of the world without anyone reacting.
He announced the readiness of the Libyan National Army to face any military escalation by militias and mercenaries supported by Turkey.
Turkey is seeking to control Libya’s capabilities and to implement its agendas in the region, with the support of Al-Sarraj, who ignores the interests of the Libyan people.
