On Tuesday, the President of Tunisia, Kais Saied, received Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan at the Carthage Palace in Tunis. They discussed bilateral relations, the situation in Libya, as well as other ongoing regional and international issues, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

There was a consensus between the two countries that the solution to the Libyan crisis must be Libyan-led. It must also lead to a peaceful settlement that ends the conflict, and protects Libya from terrorism, and external interference.

The Saudi FM stressed the importance, and centrality of the role that Libya’s neighbours can play in helping the country reach a solution. He noted that there was “great convergence” in the positions of the two countries, on how to meet challenges of the region.

Prince Faisal’s trip to Tunisia is one of a number of visits to North Africa, including to Egypt on Monday, and Algeria also on Tuesday.
