Libya’s Oil Corporation Denies Armed Raid on Tripoli HQ

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has firmly denied media reports claiming that armed men stormed its headquarters in Tripoli. In an official statement released on Wednesday, the NOC described the allegations as “completely false.”

Local media outlets and social media pages had circulated reports suggesting that the main building of Libya’s vital oil institution was breached by unidentified gunmen. However, the NOC stressed that the incident was misrepresented.

“What occurred was nothing more than a minor personal disagreement in the reception area, which was promptly resolved by administrative security personnel,” the statement clarified.

The corporation reaffirmed that the situation did not disrupt its operations in any way and that all work is proceeding normally.

The NOC also urged all media organisations to verify their information before publishing, particularly when it comes to sensitive national institutions. “We call on the press to adhere to professionalism and accuracy, and to rely on official sources, especially when dealing with sovereign facilities that are the backbone of the national economy,” the statement added.

The NOC reiterated its commitment to maintaining a secure and organised workplace for all staff, adding that it continues to function without interruption.

Libya’s oil sector remains a critical component of the country’s economy, and any instability or security breach at key institutions often draws widespread attention. The NOC’s swift denial aims to contain the narrative and reassure both domestic and international stakeholders of the sector’s stability.
