Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad, accompanied by Eng. Belgassem Haftar, Director General of the Reconstruction and Development Fund, carried out an extensive development tour in Sirte.
The delegation began at Sirte University, where the Reconstruction Fund is leading ambitious projects that include the construction of new lecture halls, fully equipped scientific laboratories with the latest digital learning technologies, sports fields for student activities, and a modern conference hall. Four older lecture theaters are also being renovated alongside a new administrative headquarters, ensuring the university can keep pace with academic modernization.
Following the university inspection, the tour extended into the city itself. The Prime Minister and his delegation reviewed progress on several major roads that have undergone upgrades and maintenance, a key step toward improving mobility and boosting the city’s infrastructure.
They also visited Marina Beach, one of Sirte’s most promising tourism and investment projects, which is expected to play a central role in the city’s economic revival.
During the visits, Hamad and Haftar met with local citizens, listening directly to their feedback and observations regarding services and ongoing projects. Residents expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts, noting that the visible progress in infrastructure, education, and public services marked a tangible improvement in their daily lives.
Prime Minister Hammad emphasized that the government’s approach to reconstruction is not limited to repairing damaged structures but extends to laying the foundations for long-term development, education, and economic growth.
Belgassem Haftar added that the Reconstruction Fund is committed to ensuring that projects in Sirte serve as a model for other Libyan cities seeking renewal after years of conflict.
The tour underscored Sirte’s central place in Libya’s broader development strategy and reflected the government’s ongoing pledge to translate reconstruction into lasting stability and prosperity.
