The Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the Libyan House of Representatives has strongly condemned Israel’s decision to block humanitarian aid from reaching civilians in Gaza, describing it as a “new crime” in a long record of violations against the Palestinian people.

In a statement issued in Tobruk, the committee said the deliberate prevention of food and medical supplies constitutes “a systematic policy of starvation and collective punishment,” in clear violation of international law, including the Geneva Conventions and fundamental principles of humanitarian law.

The committee held Israel fully responsible for the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza, warning that continued obstruction of aid would further worsen the suffering of civilians and deepen the crisis. It called on the international community and the UN Security Council to uphold their moral and legal duties by compelling Israel to immediately open safe humanitarian corridors.

Furthermore, the Libyan Parliament’s committee urged Arab and Islamic nations, as well as the Arab League, to move beyond condemnations and adopt concrete diplomatic, legal, and economic measures to pressure Israel to end its crimes against the Palestinian population.

Reaffirming Libya’s unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian cause, the committee stressed that Palestine remains “a central issue for the Arab and Islamic world,” adding that the occupation’s repeated violations would never weaken the determination and resilience of the Palestinian people.

The statement concluded by reiterating Libya’s firm stance in support of the Palestinians’ legitimate right to self-determination and resistance against occupation, while calling for justice and accountability for all crimes committed against civilians in Gaza.
