Libya’s Ministry of Justice, under the Government of National Unity, issued an official statement holding the Lebanese authorities fully responsible for the deteriorating health of Hannibal Gaddafi, who has been detained in Lebanon for several years without proper legal procedures.

The ministry said Beirut had ignored multiple diplomatic and judicial efforts made by Libya to resolve the case, the latest being an official memorandum sent through diplomatic channels in April, which presented what it described as a fair proposal for a legal resolution.

According to the statement, no response has been received from the Lebanese side, a move the ministry described as a violation of Gaddafi’s rights under humanitarian and legal standards.

The Justice Ministry called on Lebanon to fulfill its professional and judicial obligations to safeguard Gaddafi’s health and ensure he receives immediate medical treatment in line with humanitarian principles.

The statement concluded by urging the Lebanese authorities to take all necessary legal and humanitarian measures to bring the prolonged case to an end.
