Lieutenant General Khaled Khalifa Haftar, Chief of General Staff of the Libyan National Army, took part on Tuesday in the International Defence Exhibition EDEX 2025 in Cairo, one of the largest and most influential defence industry events in the Middle East and Africa. His participation came in response to an official invitation from Egypt’s Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ahmed Fathi Khalifa, underscoring the depth of military cooperation between the Libyan National Army and the Egyptian Armed Forces.

The Military Media Division of the General Command stated that Khaled Haftar’s attendance reflects the Libyan National Army’s commitment to keeping pace with advancements in defence technologies and strengthening ties with regional and international partners.

Throughout his visit, he toured multiple pavilions showcasing cutting-edge systems designed for air, land, and naval operations, while also holding discussions with representatives from leading global defence manufacturers about technologies relevant to Libya’s security priorities.

Held from 1 to 4 December at the Egypt International Exhibition Center, EDEX 2025 has drawn high-ranking military delegations from more than 100 countries.

The exhibition has become a prominent platform for governments and defence institutions to explore the latest innovations in weapons systems, military hardware, surveillance technologies, drone solutions, missile defence capabilities, and tactical communication networks.

For Libya, participation in EDEX 2025 arrives at a time when military modernization is a strategic necessity.

The Libyan National Army continues to focus on strengthening border protection, enhancing counterterrorism operations, and building a more capable and professional force. Attendance at major defence events enables Libyan military leaders to assess emerging technologies, explore procurement opportunities, and expand cooperation with countries that have long-standing defence partnerships with Libya.

It is noteworthy that EDEX 2025 continues to grow as a central hub for global defence engagement, offering participating nations a comprehensive view of evolving military industries and fostering stronger partnerships across the region.
