Libya’s Anti-Illegal Migration Agency in Tobruk has transferred 64 undocumented migrants to the Greater Benghazi shelter center as part of preparations to complete their deportation to their countries of origin, according to an official statement.

The agency said the transfer was carried out in line with established legal and administrative procedures governing irregular migration. The group included 38 undocumented migrants of Sudanese nationality and 26 undocumented migrants from Ethiopia.

Authorities explained that the migrants will remain at the Benghazi shelter facility while final arrangements are made to complete their repatriation in coordination with relevant bodies and in accordance with Libyan laws and regulations.

The Anti-Illegal Migration Agency noted that the operation falls within its ongoing efforts to regulate irregular migration flows and implement the approved security plan aimed at addressing illegal migration across eastern Libya.

Libya remains a key transit point for migrants seeking to cross the Mediterranean toward Europe, prompting Libyan authorities to intensify enforcement measures, transfers between detention centers, and coordination efforts to manage migration and curb human smuggling networks.
