Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has praised the outcomes of the latest trilateral meeting of Libya’s neighboring countries, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regional coordination to support stability, preserve national institutions, and advance the political process in Libya.

Abdelatty made the remarks during talks with Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, where the two sides reviewed regional developments and discussed a range of issues related to bilateral cooperation and regional security.

Libya featured prominently in the discussions, with both ministers stressing the need for continued cooperation among neighboring countries to help support stability and encourage progress toward a lasting political settlement.

The Egyptian foreign minister highlighted the significance of the trilateral mechanism involving Libya’s neighboring states, describing it as an important framework for consultation and coordination on issues affecting both Libya and the wider region.

He specifically welcomed the outcomes of the most recent meeting, hosted in Cairo in May, and underscored the value of continuing such engagements to address common challenges and strengthen regional cooperation.

Both Egypt and Algeria reaffirmed their support for Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while stressing the importance of preserving and strengthening national institutions. The ministers agreed that a stable and unified Libya remains essential to regional security and contributes to broader efforts aimed at promoting peace and development across North Africa.

The discussions also focused on the political process in Libya. Abdelatty and Attaf reiterated their support for a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned solution to the crisis, emphasizing that sustainable progress can only be achieved through dialogue and consensus among Libyan stakeholders.

They stressed the importance of advancing efforts to unify state institutions, overcome political divisions, and create the conditions necessary for holding comprehensive national elections.

In addition to the Libya file, the meeting reviewed bilateral relations between Egypt and Algeria and explored ways to further strengthen cooperation in political, economic, and developmental fields.

The two ministers also followed up on the implementation of agreements and understandings reached through the joint mechanisms linking the two countries.
