Libya has ranked first among Africa’s top five oil-producing countries, according to a recent economic report, reaffirming its position as the continent’s leading energy powerhouse in terms of daily output and proven reserves.

The report said Libya holds around 48 billion barrels of confirmed crude oil reserves, the largest in Africa, giving it a strategic role in the continent’s long-term energy landscape and a significant weight in global oil markets.

Africa’s hydrocarbon sector continues to play an influential role in international energy supply, and Libya’s vast oil and gas wealth places it at the forefront of this dynamic, both in production capacity and resource potential.

The ranking of the five largest African oil producers places Libya at the top, followed by Nigeria in second place, then Algeria, Angola, and Egypt, reflecting the concentration of the continent’s energy resources in a limited number of key producers.
