The Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives, Ageela Saleh, held talks on Sunday with Belgassem Haftar, Director General of the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, to review progress on ongoing reconstruction projects and discuss plans to expand development initiatives across Libya.
The meeting took place at the Speaker’s office in the city of Al-Qubba, where Belqasem Haftar presented a detailed briefing on the latest developments in reconstruction programs overseen by the fund.
During the discussion, Haftar outlined the current progress rates of infrastructure projects, including works related to roads, bridges, and essential public service facilities being implemented in several Libyan cities and regions.
Expansion of Development Projects Across Municipalities
The meeting also addressed future plans to expand development projects to additional municipalities, with the goal of ensuring a more balanced distribution of reconstruction efforts and supporting broader rebuilding initiatives throughout the country.
Belqasem Haftar also briefed the Speaker on the outcomes of his recent field tour in the Oasis region, where he assessed local development needs and reviewed ongoing and planned projects aimed at improving infrastructure and public services.
Support for Reconstruction Efforts
For his part, Aqeela Saleh expressed his support for the work of the Development and Reconstruction Fund, stressing the importance of removing obstacles that could delay project implementation and ensuring that reconstruction programs continue at a steady pace.
The Speaker praised what he described as growing urban development activity in several regions, noting that reconstruction projects underway represent an important step toward improving services for citizens and contributing to stability in Libya.
Belqasem Haftar also explained the operational mechanisms and timelines adopted by the fund to complete major projects, confirming the institution’s commitment to implementing development initiatives according to standards of quality and transparency.
