The Libyan National Army has announced the launch of the first youth gathering in the city of Al-Bayda, aimed at promoting national identity and cultural heritage during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The initiative, supported by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, invites young people across Al-Bayda to participate in a celebratory event where attendees will wear traditional Libyan attire. Organisers say the event is designed to reflect the authenticity of Libyan identity and strengthen a sense of belonging among youth.
The gathering is scheduled to take place in the Al-Orouba area in the Sahara outskirts of the city, where participants are expected to showcase traditional clothing in a large collective display. The event aims to highlight the cultural richness of eastern Libya and present a positive image of the younger generation.
According to organisers, this is the first edition of what is intended to become a recurring cultural initiative starting from Al-Bayda and the wider Jabal al Akhdar region. The programme will include cultural and artistic performances reflecting Libyan customs and traditions, alongside activities designed to celebrate heritage.
The gathering also seeks to strengthen social ties among young people from different neighbourhoods across the city. By bringing participants together in a shared cultural space, organisers hope to encourage cooperation and community engagement.
Officials said the event will create a unified visual display symbolising pride in Libyan heritage, while also offering a platform for youth to connect and express their cultural identity.
The initiative reflects broader efforts to promote social cohesion and cultural awareness in Libya, particularly among younger generations, at a time when community-focused activities are seen as key to fostering stability and national unity.
