Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control has confirmed that no suspected or confirmed Ebola cases have been recorded in the country, saying the national epidemiological situation remains stable.

In an official statement issued on Saturday, the centre said it is closely monitoring developments related to the spread of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda through national and international surveillance systems.

The centre added that its epidemiological monitoring teams and rapid response units remain on permanent alert. It said health surveillance measures have been strengthened to detect any suspected cases and respond in line with approved technical protocols.

The statement stressed that Ebola does not spread through the air like respiratory diseases. Instead, the virus is transmitted through direct contact with the bodily fluids of an infected person or contaminated tools and surfaces.

Health authorities urged citizens to follow official health guidance and report early if they experience any suspected symptoms or come into contact with a possible case.

The centre also warned against spreading rumours or inaccurate information about the health situation in Libya. It said any official updates will be announced only through its authorised channels.

The announcement comes amid regional concern over Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa. Libyan health authorities said continued monitoring and early detection remain central to protecting public health and preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
