Sudanese Prime Minister Kamil Idris has affirmed his government’s commitment to supporting Sudanese nationals in Libya who wish to return voluntarily to their country.

The Sudanese government said it is working to enable those seeking voluntary return through a dedicated electronic platform designed to register applications and organise support priorities.

The move comes after the Sudanese Embassy in Tripoli and the Sudanese Consulate in Benghazi launched initiatives in recent months to facilitate return flights for Sudanese citizens from Libya.

The initiatives also include receiving applications from Sudanese nationals living in various Libyan cities who want to return home amid the ongoing challenges facing Sudanese communities abroad.

The planned electronic platform is expected to help organise the process more effectively by identifying those most in need of support and coordinating voluntary return arrangements.

The announcement reflects Khartoum’s efforts to improve communication with Sudanese citizens in Libya and provide practical assistance to those wishing to leave voluntarily.

Libya continues to host large numbers of Sudanese nationals, including families and workers, many of whom have been affected by the conflict in Sudan and difficult living conditions abroad.
