On Thursday, the Libyan National Army (LNA) spokesman, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, called upon all Libyans to stay home to prevent a coronavirus outbreak within the country.

Under quarantine himself, Al-Mismari confirmed he was in good health and had no symptoms of the virus, and that his quarantine was a precautionary step to protect the lives of Libyan citizens and put public safety as a priority.

The spokesman posted a video on his official Facebook account, in which he stressed that the best way to deal with coronavirus was to stay home, and he urged all Libyans to closely follow measures taken by the government to face the current crisis so as not to “get involved in the spreading of the pandemic”.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared coronavirus a global pandemic last week as the new virus has rapidly spread to more than 121,000 people from Asia to the Middle East, Europe, and North America.
