The Prime Minister of the eastern-based Interim Government, Abdullah Al-Thinni, approved the Ministry of Education’s proposal to cancel the weekly Saturday holiday. As a result, Saturday is to become a normal school day in various educational institutions.

This came during a meeting Al-Thinni held with the Minister of Education, Fawzi Boumrez. They discussed the quality of education, and the progress of universities and higher institutes.

Al-Thinni stressed the need to follow all precautionary and preventive measures approved by the Medical Advisory Committee and recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO). This is to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and stop it from spreading in educational institutes, once they fully reopen.

The Prime Minister was briefed on the educational sector projects that have been implemented. He inspected the opening of the headquarters of Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Senussi University, in Al-Bayda.
