The Undersecretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Manlio Di Stefano, emphasized on Friday that recent developments in Libya were very positive.

Di Stefano said that since the signing of the permanent ceasefire agreement, the process of political and economic stability of the country has resumed. He added that Italy exerts considerable influence on the Tripoli-based Government of National Accord (GNA) and stressed that this influence should be perceived in positive terms, as cooperation towards a political track.

The Italian official touched on the role of the Italian-Libyan Economic Committee. This is to implement the agreements concluded between the two countries in 2008. Di Stefano also noted that Rome has now a more comprehensive vision towards Libya.
