The UK’s Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, James Cleverly, reiterated his support for the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF), being held in Tunisia.

“Today’s LPDF is an opportunity to make real progress towards an inclusive political settlement in Libya, building on the recent ceasefire,” Cleverly tweeted.

“The UK urges all Libyans, and the international community to seize this moment by fully supporting the United Nation Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL),” he added.

Notably UNSMIL announced the launching of the sixth round of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC). This is due to take place from 10-13 November, in its new permanent headquarters of Sirte. “The meeting aims at accelerating the implementation of the ceasefire agreement signed on 23 October in Geneva,” UNSMIL specified.

UNSMIL noted that the participants are expected to complete discussions over a ceasefire implementation, as well as the formation of specialized sub-committees.
