Egypt-Italy Discuss Latest Developments in Libya

On Friday, the Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi received a telephone call from Giuseppe Conte, the Prime Minister of Italy. They discussed the latest developments in Libya, and the Middle East.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Bassam Rady’s statements, the two sides exchanged their views on the current situation in Libya. The talks also touched on a number of regional topics of mutual interest.

El-Sisi praised the close relations between the two countries in various political, military, and economic fields. He also expressed his hope to strengthen cooperation to address the many challenges in the eastern Mediterranean region, especially combating extremist ideology and terrorism.

Conte communicated his eagerness in continuing to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in trade, investment, and military relations. The PM confirmed Rome’s keenness to intensify coordination with Cairo to deal with the regional issues, and to find ways to settle crises in the eastern Mediterranean, and MENA region.
