Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita confirmed that the consultative meeting of the Libyan Parliament in Tangiers reflects the firm will of Morocco to solve the Libyan crisis.

Bourita added that that foreign interference in Libya has exacerbated the crisis. He pointed out Morocco’s pledge to support the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) in order to put an end to the crisis.

“Morocco and Libya aim to end the ongoing divisions and reach a final settlement of the Libyan crisis,” he said, “we hope that the Tangiers meeting will end with preparing the Libyan Parliament to play its full role in the coming period, and that [the next Parliament meeting] will be held in Libya”.

The Foreign Minister stressed that “the parliament is the central body in any political process or transitional stage in Libya.” He explained that the atmosphere among Libyans was positive in the Skhirat and Bouznika dialogues in Morocco, confirming the ability of the Libyans to transcend divisions.

“The Libyans and the international community are awaiting the outcome of the consultations of the members of the Libyan Parliament”, he said.
