Embassy of Philippines in Libya Calls on Libyans to Treat Filipino Colleagues Well

The Embassy of the Philippines in Tripoli has called upon Libyan citizens to treat their Filipino colleagues and peers well and avoid being afraid of them as if they were infected with coronavirus.

Over the past few days, the embassy has received reports and complaints about some Libyans’ treatment of Filipino colleagues in the workplace. Some Libyans act as if the Filipinos are infected with coronavirus and some young people have mocked them.

Filipinos have lived in Libya for nearly fifty years and have stood with the Libyan people during periods of prosperity and crisis.

Many Filipinos chose to stay in Libya following the post-2011 chaos as they did not want to leave their hosts, even if they had the opportunity to return to the Philippines.
