Libya’s Supreme Committee to Combat Coronavirus has prohibited movement between cities and regions, starting Wednesday morning until further notice.
In a statement with the Libyan Ministry of Interior, the Committee said, “With reference to the announcement of the National Centre for Disease Control registering the first case of COVID-19 in Libya, and in accordance with the Medical Advisory Committee, the Supreme Committee has decided to prohibit movement between cities and regions.”
The Committee stressed the need for citizens to adhere to all preventive measures to combat the pandemic and prevent its spread.
On Tuesday evening, the Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control announced that the first case of Covid-19 was recorded in the Libyan capital, Tripoli. The patient is a 73-year-old man who tested positive for the virus after returning from Saudi Arabia.
