Tripoli Revolutionary Brigade to Restructure it’s Forces

The Tripoli Revolutionaries Brigade (TRB) militia led by Haitham Al-Tajouri and loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA) announced the restructuring of its forces in Tripoli.

The TRB held a meeting on Sunday during which they discussed the latest developments in Tripoli and drew a roadmap for the upcoming period.

Recently, a number of sudden and unexplained movements by various militias in Tripoli have taken place, raising fears of a new wave of armed conflict.

The TRB denied rumours about its dissolution, stressing that it is completely united and that there are no disputes between any of its leaders.

The GNA’s Prime Minister, Fayez Al-Sarraj, issued a decision on Sunday to reorganise the Special Deterrence Force (RADA) led by Abdel-Raouf Kara to directly report to the Presidential Council (PC). This is believed to be a measure to protect the PC from the recent crackdown led by the Minister of Interior, Fathi Bashagha.

RADA will be reorganised as the “Deterrence Agency for Combating Terrorism and Organised Crime.” It will have legal personality and an independent financial liability. The former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs commented on Al-Sarraj’s decision, describing it as a soft coup against Bashagha.
