On Friday, the National Human Rights Commission in Libya (NHRC) said that gunmen affiliated with the Government of National Accord (GNA) arrested the opposition activist Mohammed Radwan, who is the head of the Tawergha Missing Association.

The NHRC explained that Radwan was kidnapped from downtown Tawergha on Friday afternoon, and his fate remains so far unknown.

The NHRC called on the GNA’s Interior Ministry (GNA) to immediately release Radwan. The Commission has made it clear it holds Misrata’s Internal Security Agency Office responsible for Radwan’s safety.

The Commission also called for an end to the phenomenon of abductions and arbitrary arrests throughout Libya, urging on the GNA to work seriously to respect freedom of opinion and expression.
