Libya’s Anti-Illegal Migration Agency has announced the deportation of 342 irregular migrants through its branches in Al-Bayda and Derna, as part of ongoing efforts to regulate migration flows and address the presence of undocumented foreign nationals across the country.

According to the agency, the operation involved migrants from several countries, including Sudan, Egypt, Chad, Niger, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. Authorities said the deportations were carried out after the completion of all required legal, security, and administrative procedures.

The largest part of the operation was conducted by the agency’s Al-Bayda branch, which deported 230 migrants of various African and Arab nationalities. Some individuals were transferred through the Qanfouda accommodation center before their departure, while others were repatriated through the Emsaed land border crossing on Libya’s eastern frontier.

Officials stated that many migrants received medical treatment and healthcare services before their deportation, ensuring that all necessary humanitarian and health-related measures were completed before their return.

Meanwhile, the Derna branch handled the transfer of 112 migrants from Sudan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. The migrants were moved to the Benghazi Greater Shelter Center, where final arrangements are being completed before their repatriation to their countries of origin.

The agency also revealed that some of those deported were subject to security-related records, while others were found to be suffering from infectious diseases. Authorities said appropriate health and security procedures were implemented in accordance with established regulations and national protocols.

Libya remains a major transit point for migrants attempting to reach Europe through Mediterranean routes, making migration management one of the country’s most significant security and humanitarian challenges. Authorities say they will continue implementing measures aimed at controlling irregular migration, enhancing border security, and facilitating the return of migrants through organized and regulated procedures.
