The General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) announced on Monday that it will forcefully deal with anyone suspected of undermining the security and stability of Sebha and surroundings towns.

The spokesman for the LNA’s General Command, Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari, said that the Sebha military region had detected subversive elements belonging to the Government of National Accord (GNA) who were allegedly receiving orders from Turkish intelligence. He added that Ankara was leading operations in support of the Muslim Brotherhood, and the Takfiri elements in the city.

Al-Mismari claimed to have confirmed that these elements had received money from Tripoli to destabilize security and stability in southern Libya, and were recruiting foreign mercenaries.

He confirmed that units from the Sebha military region had confronted these groups, as well as a number of extremists. The LNA forces have taken control of their headquarters in one of the city’s sports clubs.
