Leaked documents revealed that the Interior Minister of Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA), Fathi Bashagha has abused his power and was profiting from the position.

Correspondences between him and the South Korean Embassy to Libya, revealed that he had assigned his son’s company, Al-Faiah Holding Co., as the sole agent to the South Korean car giant, Hyundai.

Al-Faiah, which is affiliated with the MoI, requested Seoul to let Hyundai approve it as the exclusive agent in the North African country.

According to Al-Marsad news website, the documents also showed Bashagha’s request to appoint Hussein Jarud, a close friend as a representative of Al-Faiah Company. The documents revealed that Jarud himself represented the GNA with the International Federation of Hapkido.

Another leaked document confirmed that the owner of the newly established company is Mohamed Fathi Bashagha, son of the Interior Minister.

Ahmed Al-Tuwaibi, the Director of the minister’s office submitted a request to the Audit Bureau in Tripoli for exemption from reviewing a contract worth more than €20.6 million euros for the import of 30 armoured vehicles.
