On Saturday, German Ambassador to Libya Oliver Owcza commended the successful work of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum’s (LPDF) Advisory Committee in suggesting a selection mechanism for a unified government in Libya.

In a post on Twitter, the ambassador called on all parties to support its implementation, “thus paving the way for national elections.”

“The weeks to come are an opportunity to prove the will for change,” he added.

The Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Stephanie Williams, announced that the members of the LPDF will vote on the proposed mechanism for choosing the interim executive authority next Monday.

Williams explained that voting takes place for 24 hours, and the results will be announced upon completion of the counting of votes on Tuesday.
